Shesh, it's been over a month!!! Time is flying by!

It's been a busy month! And, the kids are working
hard to prepare for First grade! Can you believe the year
is almost done? We can't!
Ah our Mother's Day pots! The kids worked really
hard on them and we hope you love them!
We are currently studying space! Specifically, the
Solar System! We enjoyed our creative side painting
the planets! We think they turned out spectacular!
If you know of anyone who is an expert on the solar system
and might enjoy sharing what they know with Kindergartners
PLEASE let us know. We'd love to have a guest come in and
share what they know!

This is the crew that remembered "Hat Day."
Great hats!
The simple pleasure of bouncing a ball.
Kindness goes a long way.
Are we bunnies or dogs?
Goofing around.

What a cute bunch of "Bees!"

Nuts and Bolts:
1. The online book order is being sent on May 17th.
2. Our music program is set for Tuesday May 24th.
There is a show at 9am and 1:30pm.
3. If all our library books are turned in from each
class than that class is awarded a party! If you
know your child needs to turn in their books
please remind them to do so!
4. If your child has a summer birthday and you'd like
to celebrate it before school gets out please feel
free to send a treat in from now until the end of school.

We are loving this sunny weather!!!! We hope you are too.

April showers will hopefully bring SUNSHINE!

Ugh, this beehive NEEDS sunshine! We are ready for it!
I decided to put the picture taking in the hands of our kids
and these two little girls did GREAT! Enjoy their take on life
here at Burlington.
Karsyn and Asher are our photographers. Nice
works girls!
Good ol' fashion game of basketball in the gloomy
weather.
Owen...love the face!
Great smiles!
The boys...
This might be my favorite photo they took! I wouldn't
have thought to get a picture of the worms they dug up!
It pays to put the kids in charge of what their day looks
like and the things that excite them.
And the rest of these pictures were taken by me or
Mrs. Pederson. The kids were working on their
watercolor flowers. If you get a chance check out
their beautiful work in our hallway! They wrote
sentences about them too. Such good little worker bees!

Below, is yet another cool block design by
Anthony, nice work!
Well, keep your fingers crossed that sunshine is on
it's way! We don't have any "Nuts and Bolts" right
now, we'll post if we do!

Thank you for taking time out of your day and joining us
for conferences. I know I share my feelings with Mrs. Pederson
when I say, we are so lucky to be your child's teacher. They are
a great group of children. Every one of them brings something
unique to our community! Thank you for letting us share that with
you in a "quick" 15 minute time frame!

Lastly, thank you to Mile's mom for sending in supplies! I'm
pretty sure the kids are eating our glue sticks! Not really,
but I do wonder where it all goes.

The lastest and greatest

Our classmate Jodie is heading off to a new

hive....Meadowlark! We had a fun party

for her and made a great class book.

Mrs. Pederson came in for the party too.

We'll miss you Jodie!
We continue to work hard on understanding

"and" means + and "is" means =.
Fun times out at recess.
One of the better shots of our sneaky St. Patrick

Day leprechan. As Mrs. Bauer says, "A leprechan

is not to be trusted."

Tuesday is our class picture day! If your child would

like to purchase a picture send them in with $8.

Also, primary (K-3) is winning with the coin drive for

St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Keep the coins

coming in!

Have a great week and we'll see you at your

conference time.

St. Patrick's Day events and outdoor fun

St. Patrick's Day was such a hit for the Bees!
Many came in very excited about the leprechan
visiting their home! Little did we know he was
planning a visit later in our day. He briskly danced
a jig through our classroom leaving it a disaster!
He was redeemed by the Lucky Charms snack he left
the kids! This is how they felt about the mess he left!
Our Bees got right to cleaning and this was the
best shot I could get of the wreckage.
A few of the fellas playing. I had taken a bunch of
other picutures but something was wrong with
them and would not download. More to come next
week!

We've been busy (as usual) discussing money and
working on our new reading group books!
Mrs. Pederson and I were very impressed with all of
the kid's progress made in reading. They are such
hard workers and it's so much fun to watch them grow!
Nuts and Bolts:
1. You'll be receiving your date and time for conferences
very soon! Thank you for returning the slips so promptly!
2. THANK YOU to everyone who brought in snack for the
kids, we greatly appreciate it!
3. The leadership team is sponsoring a money drive. They
are trying to raise money for St. Judes Children's Hospital. If
you'd like to donate go ahead and send it with your children
and we'll make sure it get in the bucket! Thank you to those
who have already sent money in! The kids are having a blast with
this event. They have such big hearts!

School Carnival

Our Busy Bees had a wonderful time at the school carnival.
Thank you to Michael and Janae Ruiz for donating a beautiful art basket to the kindergarten classroom. The kids are enjoying the new items in the Art Center.

Note: Please consider sending more snack items with your child. We are on our last couple boxes of crackers.

What we're up to...

Our Bees continue to buzz ever so swiftly!
Learning not only fun and interesting new information
but also how to keep our hands to ourselves. LOTS
of conversations about using our words and not our
hands to communicate frustration. I know
Mrs. Pederson is an old pro at Kindergarten but
I'm still figuring it out. I've learned it's all about
teaching BOUNDARIES! I am a life long learner!
We're currently learning the different ways to make
numbers. Basically the first step to understanding
addition.
Working on spelling.
Very hard workers thinking about what letter sounds
make up words.
Celebrating our good 'ol friend Dr. Seuss's Birthday.
Feeling goofy.
Creating ways to make halves and fourths.
Creative art, with word wall words.
Writing about some of our favorite things.

It's been a great week!
Stay tuned for new adventures next week!

End of February Updates

We hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend!

Just a few things to note:
1. If you are ever looking for fun educational websites
to do with your kids here are two that we like;
PBSkids and Starfall.
2. If anybody has baking items to add to our classroom
basket please send them in with your child.
3. We are more then half way through the year and
finally ran out of glue sticks. Could you please send
some in with your child if you get a chance?
4. Thank you again Melissa (Devin's Mom) for
sending in play dough! As play dough is one of our
favorite centers we are ready for more play dough!
We'd love to have some sent in if you've got the
opportunity to help us out.
Our Star Student of this week is Tobin!
Here is Emily displaying our work on Peter Rabbit
and sequencing. All of the kids should have one of these,
have them explain the sequence of events in Peter Rabbit.

One of our future engineers!!
Kindergarten always gets compliments on how
quiet we are in the hallway. "Hips and lips."
Here is our shared writing this month. We wrote
a poem about "Be(e) Mine" bees. "Bee Bee don't you see? I like
you and you like me!" Again we used as many of our
word wall words as we could!
When the kids come in in the morning there is
always a message on the board. On this particular day
the kids decided they wanted to identify the words that
were not on the word wall by circling them. It cracked me
up because they thought it was the funniest thing! I think
they felt like they were totally breaking the rules. We're
all so silly!
